When to come

We drive all year round. Every season shows this corner of Europe differently — here is the honest version.

WinterQuiet castles, snow over the Little Carpathians and no queues anywhere. Our Slovak mountain trips are at their best, and Bratislava’s Christmas markets are a short drive away.
SpringCastles reopen, vineyards turn green and the Danube valley is at its prettiest.
SummerLongest days, so we reach further — Budapest and back is comfortable, not rushed.
AutumnHarvest season in the Little Carpathians. Wine tastings are best now, and roads are empty.

Where we pick you up

We collect you anywhere in Vienna — the Innere Stadt hotels, apartments across the districts, even the airport hotels. Full-day tours leave between 7:00 and 8:00; the exact time comes with your confirmation.

Crossing into Slovakia or Hungary takes minutes, but bring your passport or national ID — we cross real borders, even if you barely notice them.

Frequently asked questions

How far is Bratislava from Vienna for a day trip?

Only about 80 km — roughly one hour by car. That makes Bratislava the easiest capital-to-capital day trip in Europe, and why our tours can combine it with castles or even Budapest in the same day.

Where do the tours start?

We pick you up directly at your Vienna hotel or apartment in the morning and drop you back in the evening. Pickup time is confirmed after booking.

Do I need my passport to cross into Slovakia or Hungary?

Austria, Slovakia and Hungary are all in the Schengen area, so there are no border checks — but carry your passport or EU ID card as standard practice.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes. Tours booked through GetYourGuide come with free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour starts.

Do you run tours in winter?

Yes, all year round. Winter is one of our best seasons — the Slovak mountains under snow are spectacular and the castles are empty. Some interiors close between November and March, so tell us your date and we will say honestly what is open.

Is a day trip better than the train to Bratislava?

The train is cheap and takes about an hour, but it drops you at the station. Our day trip picks you up at your hotel, adds Hainburg and Devin Castle, and gives you a guide who explains what you are looking at. If you only want to walk the Old Town on your own, take the train — we will say so honestly.

Do I need a passport?

Yes for trips into Slovakia or Hungary. EU citizens can travel on a national ID card. Border checks are rare but the document must be with you.

How long is a full day?

Between 8 and 12.5 hours door to door, depending on the route. The Bratislava and Devin trip is the shortest; Bratislava with Budapest is the longest.

Is it cheaper to book directly?

Yes. Our own website is usually cheaper than the large platforms, and paying your driver in cash on the day is cheaper again on most tours. Ask us on WhatsApp for the exact price for your group.
