Budapest deserves several days — but so does everything around it. Lake Balaton’s wine-country shores are 90 minutes away, and even a two-capital day to Bratislava and Vienna is comfortable with door-to-door transport. Both tours start with pickup at your Budapest hotel.

When to come

We drive all year round. Every season shows this corner of Europe differently — here is the honest version.

WinterFewer crowds everywhere and Christmas markets in three countries. The Slovak mountains under snow are the trip people remember most.
SpringLake Balaton wakes up, Tihany is green and the Danube Bend is at its best.
SummerBalaton season. Long days mean plenty of lakeside free time on the way back.
AutumnHarvest around Balaton, warm light over the water and empty roads to Vienna and Bratislava.

Where we pick you up

We collect you anywhere in Budapest — both the Buda and Pest sides, hotels, apartments and Airbnbs. Full-day tours leave early, usually between 6:30 and 7:30, because the routes are long; the exact time comes with your confirmation.

Trips to Slovakia or Austria cross real borders, so bring your passport or national ID.

Frequently asked questions

Is Lake Balaton worth a day trip from Budapest?

Absolutely — it’s Central Europe’s largest lake, ringed by vineyards and historic villages. Our route pairs Balaton with the hilltop abbey of Tihany and the basilica town of Esztergom on the Danube Bend.

Can I visit Vienna and Bratislava from Budapest in one day?

Yes. With early hotel pickup and private transport you get guided time in both capitals and are back in Budapest the same evening.

Where do the tours start?

We pick you up at your Budapest hotel or apartment in the morning and drop you back in the evening.

Can I cancel my booking?

Yes. Tours booked through GetYourGuide come with free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour starts.

Do you run tours in winter?

Yes, all year round. Winter means fewer crowds, Christmas markets in Vienna and Bratislava, and the Slovak mountains under snow. Tell us your date and we will say honestly what is open.

Can I really see two capitals in one day?

Yes — and thousands of guests have. It is a long day, around 12 hours, but you get guided walks in both cities and free time in each. If you want a slower pace, the Lake Balaton trip is the gentler option.

Do I need a passport?

Yes for trips to Slovakia or Austria. EU citizens can travel on a national ID card, but the document must be with you.

How early do we start?

Usually between 6:30 and 7:30. The early start is what makes a comfortable pace possible later — we would rather leave early than rush the good parts.

Is it cheaper to book directly?

Yes. Our own website is usually cheaper than the large platforms, and paying your driver in cash on the day is cheaper again on most tours. Ask us on WhatsApp for the exact price.
