Full description

Three of Austria’s most beautiful places in one unforgettable day. You leave Vienna — or Bratislava, on request — in the morning and follow the Danube west into the Wachau Valley, where the baroque Melk Abbey rises above the river. A guided visit takes you through the marble hall, the famous library and the golden abbey church, and in season you can add a short boat ride past the Wachau vineyards. From there the road climbs into the Salzkammergut lake district to Hallstatt, the UNESCO-listed village squeezed between steep mountains and a mirror-still lake. You’ll have time to wander the tiny market square, find the classic postcard viewpoint and stop for lunch by the water. The day ends in Salzburg, Mozart’s hometown, with a walk through the old town — the Getreidegasse, the cathedral quarter and views up to the Hohensalzburg Fortress.

It’s a long day, around 12 to 14 hours, but with a maximum of eight guests, hotel pickup, a comfortable vehicle and an English-speaking guide who turns miles into stories, it never feels like a bus tour. We handle the logistics; you enjoy Austria.
